Do your upper eyelids droop to the point that you cannot see very well or at all in your upper field of vision? This condition is called ptosis, and it is entirely correctable with eyelid surgery. Although it may seem like a mild nuisance, it is important to get treatment for ptosis before it becomes severe.
Mild ptosis results in the eyelid covering a small portion of the pupil so that the upper field of vision is diminished. When ptosis becomes worsened, it can bring the eyelid down to the point where most or all of the pupil is covered by the eyelid. When this happens, you will find that you are not really able to see as well as you need to. It is important to seek treatment before it reaches that point.
As we age, our eyesight naturally decreases. There is no reason to allow your eyelids or ptosis to further inhibit your eyesight. The sooner you get treatment for ptosis, the sooner you will be able to restore your field of vision, which will allow you to see more clearly and get a more accurate eyeglasses prescription when you see your optometrist.
Undergoing any kind of surgery can seem scary at first, but the treatment for ptosis is actually very easy for the patient. This type of eyelid surgery can usually be done on an outpatient basis. There is little recovery time, and you can return to normal activity very quickly. With the procedure being so easy to work into your schedule and lifestyle, there is no reason to put it off further.
